Widgets and Live Activities
How do I add a till widget to my Home Screen?
Touch and hold an empty part of your Home Screen until the apps jiggle, tap Edit, then Add Widget. Search for till, choose a size and tap Add Widget.
To choose which event it shows, or to make it follow a list, touch and hold the widget and tap Edit Widget.
How do I put a countdown on my Lock Screen?
Touch and hold your Lock Screen, tap Customize, then Lock Screen. Tap the widget area under the clock and choose till.
How do I start a Live Activity?
Open an event and tap Watch Live, or swipe right on it in the list. The countdown then appears on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. iOS shows Live Activities for up to about eight hours, so they're best for the final stretch.
Where did the checklist widget go?
Checklists now live in tusk. Its Before Your Events widget shows what's left to do before your countdowns, and you can tick items there.
Reminders
My reminders don't arrive
Check that notifications are allowed in Settings › Notifications › till, and that a Focus isn't silencing them. You can jump there from till's settings (the gear) with Notification Settings.
iOS lets an app schedule a limited number of notifications at once. till always keeps the soonest ones scheduled and tops the list up each time you open it, so open till now and then if you have a lot of events.
What are milestones, and can I turn them off?
Milestones are a short note at 9:00 for moments like "100 days to go", "Halfway there!" and anniversaries of things you count up. Turn them off with Milestones in till's settings.
Sync, purchases and backups
How do I sync between iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch?
On each device, sign in with the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on, then turn on iCloud Sync in till's settings. Changes apply the next time you open till. Your events sync through your private iCloud, and we never see them.
What's free, and what does the unlock add?
till is free for two events. The unlock is a one-time purchase that adds unlimited events, lists and secret events. There's no subscription.
I bought the unlock. How do I get it on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple Account, open till's settings and tap Restore Purchase.
Do I need to buy till again for my iPad or Mac?
No. It's one purchase for every device: the unlock you buy on your iPhone also works on your iPad, Mac and Apple Watch with the same Apple Account. On a new device, tap Restore Purchase in till's settings if it isn't unlocked yet.
Does Family Sharing work?
Yes. If you use Family Sharing with purchase sharing turned on, everyone in your family group gets the unlock, on all of their devices too. They may need to tap Restore Purchase once.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles all payments, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I back up my events or move them to another device?
In till's settings, under Backup, tap Export Backup to save a file with all your events and photos. On the other device, tap Import Backup and choose the file. Importing adds events you don't already have, so nothing is overwritten.
Events
How do I add an event from another app?
In Safari, Mail, Messages, Photos or Files, tap Share and choose till. till reads the link, text, PDF or picture on your device and fills in a new event for you to check. Tap ✓, and it's in till the next time you open it. If you don't see till, tap More at the end of the row of apps.
A calendar invite (an .ics file) opens straight into a new event, with its date and time exactly as in the invite.
How do I plan for an event in tusk?
Open the event, tap More (⋯) and choose Move to tusk or Plan in tusk. Its checklist becomes a tusk project, and till shows how much of it is done.
How do secret events work?
When you edit an event, turn on Secret. It's then hidden until you unlock with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode, and kept out of Siri and Spotlight. Tap the lock button to hide secret events again.
What happens when I travel to another time zone?
By default, events follow you: a birthday at midnight means midnight wherever you are. For something tied to a place, like a flight landing in Tokyo, give the event a time and set its Time Zone. till then counts down to that moment in that city's time, and shows your local time beside it.
What happens when an event's day arrives?
till celebrates it. From the celebration you can mark it done, archive it, make it repeat every year, or delete it. Finished events move to History.
How do I delete everything?
Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device. If you used iCloud Sync, remove till's iCloud data in Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
On the Mac
How do I get till on my Mac?
till runs on Macs with macOS 26 or later. Get it from the Mac App Store with the same Apple Account you use on your iPhone. Your unlock carries over, and with iCloud Sync on, so do your events.
How do I show or hide the countdown in the menu bar?
Open till › Settings (⌘,) and turn Show in Menu Bar on or off. The menu bar shows your next countdown; click it to see the ones after it. Secret events never appear there. While it's on, closing the window keeps till in the menu bar; choose Quit till (⌘Q) to close it completely.
Can I add till widgets to my Mac desktop?
Yes. Click the date and time in the menu bar, choose Edit Widgets, and drag a till widget to your desktop or Notification Center.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
⌘N adds an event, ⇧⌘N a list, and ⌃⌘L locks secret events again. Right-click an event to open, edit, archive or delete it.
